Polls open today in Marion's town election
Today's Marion May 15 town election will feature some high profile races, including Selectman, two School Committee seats, Planning Board and town moderator.
Polling will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Benjamin Cushing Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at 465 Mill St. (Route 6.)
Dale Jones is again running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen challenging incumbent and Recreation Department Director Jody Dickerson.
Town Moderator David Titus is not seeking re-election after 35 years in the position. Former Planning Board member Patricia McArdle and Matthew Nowick are running for the position.
Three people are vieing for two seats on the Planning Board.
Incumbents Steve Gonsalves and Chair Stephen Kokkins face challenger Jennifer Francis. Francis has served on the town’s Energy Management Committee for the past few years and is a research professor at Rutgers University.
In the race for School Committee, members Jay Pateakos and Joseph Scott announced they would not seek re-election. Hoping to fill those seats are Jessica Harris, David MacDonald and Michelle Ouellette.
Uncontested races are as follows: Assessor – Ray Pickles, Board of Health – John Howard.
