Read next week's news today
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! . . . Before the news is in the paper.
In a turnabout on the old-time system of printing a special edition – an “extra” – when big news happened right after a paper went to press, today’s big news goes online immediately and then waits for the next edition of the paper to see print. (How many of you waited to see the next day’s edition of the morning newspaper to learn about the Marathon bombing?)
At Sippican Week and SippicanVillageSoup.com, our online-first philosophy is not confined to “big” news or even big local news. Almost everything you see in this week’s paper was online for days before being put on paper: Mother Poppy at the Plumb Library, ORR students excelling at Destination Imagination, residents in various towns debating solar farms. Also online is material that never makes the paper: Police logs from Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester. The full versions of opinion pieces that are trimmed to fit the space in print. Video. And more.
Those of you who already receive daily Sippican headlines by e-mail already know all this. Those of you who haven’t signed up have an extra incentive to do so by the end of the month. Everyone who signs up for headlines between March 27 and April 30, will be entered in a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to Tastebuds restaurant in Mattapoisett. Stay informed – and eat well!
How to sign up for the headlines? Go to SippicanVillageSoup.com and look for the little box on the right side of the home page with “Daily Headlines” in the orange circle. Type in your e-mail address. Hit the little blue arrows on the right. And that’s it!
