Remembering the loss of a great lady in Marion
To the Editor:
We in the Marion community have reason to give special thanks for Edie Pangaro who recently passed away in her home in New Hampshire. Those of us who were around in the 1960s and 1970s fondly remember the role Edie and her husband, Larry, played in founding and running the original Sippican Sentinel.
The paper was a weekly that served Marion's various needs and distributed a wide variety of community news, activities and citizen opinions. Everyone in town read it, and hence felt in touch with town issues and neighborly happenings. It made for a very closely knit sense of community.
Our current weekly newspapers are doing their very best to fill this important need, but with three newspapers one doesn't get the sense that all of us read all of them, and their need now is to serve a much wider group of townships.
Thank you, Edie and Larry Pangaro, for your years of service to Marion when life was less complex and your newspaper was keeping us all in touch with each other!
