Rochester Boy Scouts get in the spirit of giving

ROCHESTER — Thanksgiving got a little bit easier this year in Rochester, thanks to the volunteer efforts of Boy Scout Troop 31.

The Scouts, in the spirit of the holiday, decided to spend their weekend giving back to the community.

On Saturday, the boys in the troop hosted their annual Thanksgiving dinner for many of the organizations that support the scouting program, including the Rochester Fire Fighters Association, The Grange Hall Association and Rochester Emergency Response Personnel including The Police and Fire Departments.

Scouts served up a traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner to their guests and did so with a smile.

Their community service did not end there. On Sunday, the Scouts and their leaders joined the Rochester Lions Club at the Council on Aging to help pack Thanksgiving dinner food bags for local families in need.

Approximately 100 bags were over flowing with all the fixings for a hearty holiday meal; including flyers with kind and thankful messages hand decorated by Junior Friends of the Plumb Library, Scouts and Rochester Memorial students.
