Rochester Country Fair raises money with pajama party

The Rochester Country Fair committee believes it can raise money for the new fairgrounds in their pajamas. So they did.

In fact, that was the attire for everyone at Saturday’s 13th annual dance party.

The party kicked-off at the Ponderosa on Nov. 19, where guests could purchase tickets and wear their favorite sleeping attire.

“They can wear anything they want that’s comfortable...and respectable,” said committee member Julie Koczera.

The Country Fair committee organized the event as a fundraiser for their new Pine Street fairgrounds. The move is scheduled for next year with the work for the new grounds having started this past July.

The pajama party featured music by the Relics and a raffle of assorted gift baskets and certificates.

Guitarist for the Relics, Ken Daggett, said he was particularly excited to play the party, for which he was decked out in his best red flannel pajamas.

“It’s fun and comfortable,” Daggett said. “I wish I could play every gig dressed like this.”
