Rochester County Fair to have prehistoric theme

Jul 27, 2015

This year’s Rochester Country Fair will be held Thursday, Aug. 13 to Sunday, Aug. 16 at 65 Pine St., and it will have a prehistoric theme. Admission is $4 on Thursday and $5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Parking is free.
Events centered around the country fair, now in its 16th year, will include a parade on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Participation has been low at the parade in recent years, but the fair committee hopes to see many spectators line the parade route this year to keep the tradition going. Parade participants will decorate their floats with prehistoric or caveman-themes as well as with articles now considered prehistoric by today’s standards.

Other "preshistoric" events include the Dinosaur Dig Hunt, Children's Bam Bam Strong Man Contest, Diaper Derby and costume contest.

There will be a "prehistoric" photo contest where participants can pull out old photos. Personal drawings will also be allowed and judged in a separate category. Objects from the past, such as old phones, unique items and antiques will be on display. All in the community are welcome to participate.
