ROCHESTER — Selectmen appointed a new part-time police officer on Feb. 3.

Police Chief Robert Small attended the board’s meeting to introduce Emmanuel Matias. He graduated from Dartmouth High School.

His most recent position is working in security at St. Luke’s hospital. He attended police academy part-time while in that position.

Small recommended him to the board because he scored well on his exams. Selectmen approved him with no comments.
