Rochester Grange fair opens entries

Jul 31, 2023

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Grange Hall will hold its annual summer fair on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 1:30 to 7 p.m.

The Hall’s traditional Ham and Bean supper will be held at 6 p.m. Anyone interested in a take out meal must call ahead at 508-295-8908 by 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 19. Pick up will be just before 6 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10.

The fair will feature exhibits, baked goods and a raffle.

To enter items for judging at the Grange Hall, bring them to the hall on Friday, Aug. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Judging will follow shortly after.

Fair books have been placed at many places around Rochester but disappear fast. Call 508-295-8908 to get a book, or last year’s “yellow books” can still be used.

The book is a guide. Entries not listed in the book can still be brought to the hall and entered into judging. Anyone, not just Rochester residents, may enter, and age doesn’t matter as long as someone is young or old enough to help grow entries. That means anyone who helped plant the seeds, pull weeds or water the plants is eligible.

Bakers can also enter their favorite pies, pastries or any other baked good. Crafters who made something they are especially proud of in the past year can bring it in and show it off.

Bakers who want to make something to donate to the sale, call 508-763-8908 and leave a message.
