Rochester Historical Society to host talk

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Historical Society will host Howie Smith of the Wareham Minutemen and Militia and Chris MacDonald of the Lafayette Durfee House, who will present on their experiences at a re-enactment of George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware. 

The crossing occurred Dec. 25 and 26, 1776, and was an important military victory for the Continental Army. Smith, MacDonald and their wives, Claire and Glorimar, participated in a historical re-enactment in Dec. 2018 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

They will share details of the original crossing and of their experiences during the re-enactment. This educational evening will be held Wed. June 19 at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Historical Society's Museum, 355 County Rd., Rochester.
