Rochester Pan Mass Challenge participants start ride with kids

ROCHESTER — It would have been a lot for Calib LaRue and Andrew Revell to ask kids to ride with them for the 25 or 50 miles that they rode for the Pan Mass Challenge this weekend. But to give them something special to do, the two riders invited neighborhood children to pedal the first lap around the neighborhood with them.

Though the two started off from the same neighborhood where they live, they chose different distances to ride. Revell rode 25 miles, and LaRue 50.

Sergeant Kevin Flynn and Officer Jason Denham from the Rochester Police Department drove along with the group of riders to make sure that the children made it back safely once Revell and LaRue took off for the longer part of their ride.

“I just wanted to recognize them to show the positive of law enforcement during these times,” wrote LaRue, in submitting the photos.

Revell trained and rode this year in honor of his father, and friends who have had cancer, especially Professor Mike Healey and Karen Forrester.
