Rochester Police Department welcomes new part-time officer

Nov 5, 2018

ROCHESTER — A new part-time officer will soon be sporting a Rochester Police Department badge around town.

Michelle Donovan, a Foxborough native, was appointed to the position on Monday after Selectmen quickly approved the decision. The position became available after another part-time officer was moved up to a full-time spot, according to Police Chief Robert Small.

Donovan graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science. Chief Small reported to the Selectmen that she graduated from the department academy about two months ago and sponsored herself through the process.

Her family members and boyfriend were also in attendance to watch as she was appointed to the new position.

“Congratulations, you’re going to do a great job,” said Chair Greenwood Hartley. “Welcome aboard.”

Small concluded the appointment by handing Donovan her new badge and welcoming her to the department.
