Rochester Selectmen approve Arbor Day
The Board of Selectmen formally approved that the town would declare Tuesday, April 29 as Arbor Day.
At Monday night’s Selectmen meeting, Town Administrator Michael McCue said that the declaration, which he describes as a "personal pet project" of his, would allow Rochester to post Arbor Day Foundation Tree City USA signs.
The declaration, which requires approval on an annual basis, also makes the town more attractive for grants, McCue said. More than 3,400 cities and towns across the United States have earned this designation, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.
