Rochester students take home trees for Arbor Day

May 8, 2023

ROCHESTER — Rochester Tree Warden Jeffrey Eldridge procured 500 small trees that were distributed to Rochester Memorial School students on Friday, April 28 to take home and plant.

According to a press release from the school, “Arbor Day is a day to celebrate trees. Trees can reduce the erosion of our precious topsoil by wind and water, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, reduce energy consumption, clean the air, and produce life-giving oxygen.”

Arbor Day was observed throughout the world on Friday, April 28.

“Hopefully Rochester Memorial School students will enjoy the opportunity to plant a tree this weekend and observe it over time as they both grow up here in our town,” read the press release.
