Rockland Trust leaving Rochester location
Sep 1, 2015
Rockland Trust will move out of its Rochester branch in Plumb Corner Market come Jan. 1.
Town Administrator Mike McCue informed Selectmen of the decision at the board’s Monday night meeting.
He said his office has extended an offer to help Rockland Trust management keep the store in town, but it appears Plumb Corner Market will lose a tenant regardless.
“My understanding is there are forces beyond what the town can do,” McCue said. “It certainly is a loss.”
The office space previously housed a branch of Plymouth County’s Mayflower Bank.
Rockland Trust, part of the Independent Bank Corporation, acquired eight Mayflower locations, including the Rochester branch, in May 2013.
