Route 6 crash causes severe injuries

Two people were injured after the car they were traveling in flipped over a guardrail on Route 6 in Mattapoisett on Sunday, June 11.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m., on Route 6 near Chapel Road.

The car reportedly flipped over a guardrail and into the woods. According to emergency broadcasts, at least two passengers were transported to the hospital with injuries, one with severe injuries.

At 6:30 p.m., first-responders were checking the woods to locate a third passenger who may have been ejected from the vehicle. At 7:09 p.m., emergency responders concluded that there was not, in fact, a third passenger in the car at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.

Mattapoisett Police, Fire and EMS were on scene, with backup from the Rochester Police.
