Selectmen discuss bike path amenities

MATTAPOISETT — With the Rail Trail bike path getting closer to its opening, the town is looking to finalize what extra additions to place around it.

According to Friends of the Bike Path treasurer Renee Pothier, the group has an excess of funds from its fall campaign. Pothier added that the intention is to use the money to get amenities, signs, and matching grants for the trail.

“It needs more input from the town,” she said. “Some items may need to come off the list and some items may need more definition.”

Selectman John DeCosta noted that proposed amenities include things like benches, trash cans, and environmental signs.

An update on the project is expected in late February.
