At the prompting of Selectman Paul Silva, Town Administrator Mike Gagne is looking into the creation of a community garden. Gagne suggested meeting with the Agricultural Commission and bringing in the Mattapoisett Land Trust to help with the idea.

Selectmen were unsure of any possible locations.

“It has to be somewhere that’s truly public, not secluded,” said Selectman Jordan Collyer.

Gagne said the Agricultural Commission could probably suggest some options. The initial meeting with the commission and land trust would happen after May Town Meeting.

Anyone with possible land for the garden may contact the Town Administrator’s Assistant and Agricultural Commission member Melody Pacheco at Town Hall.
