Feb 12, 2019

Three athletic organizations are teaming up to offer a Skills Academy over February vacation that will allow young soccer players to hone their footwork using futsal skills. Futsal focuses on quick passing, movement and superior foot skills, that will translate nicely when players return to the field this spring.

Old Rochester Youth Soccer and Mariner Youth Soccer will work together to host a half-day and full-day skills clinic from Tuesday Feb. 19 to Friday, Feb. 22. Marion Recreation and Seaside Crossfit will also provide support for the Futsal training, which will be done by professional coaches and will be held at the Field House at Tabor Academy.

The half day clinic runs from 9 a.m. to noon and costs $125. A full day option, with a lunch provided by Tabor Academy will be available for $200. The full day clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For the full day option, on Wednesday afternoon the kids will head to Seaside Crossfit for soccer-specific strength and conditioning, to learn to how to improve strength and speed.

A camp t-shirt will be provided to all participants. All players will be required to have proper attire, including shin guards, and indoor soccer shoes. A futsal ball is required to participate in the Academy, and can be purchase through the checkout for $25.
