Sippican Lands Trust launches walking series

Apr 30, 2019

MARION — The Sippican Lands Trust is launching a new walkabout series with the Marion Council on Aging. The series of themed walks will take place on Sippican Lands Trust properties on the first Tuesday of each month. The series will start May 7 and end October 6.

The first walk, called “Sit, Watch, Listen,” will take place at 10 a.m. at Peirson Woods. Diane Cook, a Lands Trust board member, will lead a quiet walk in the woods, with chances for participants to observe wildlife.

Jim Bride, the Lands Trust’s Executive Director, said he is “delighted to partner with the Marion Council on Aging on this Walkabout Series and hopes the monthly walks will give participants a chance to experience nature right in their own community.”

The parking area for Peirson Woods is located about 1.5 miles south of Route 6 and Point Road. The walk is free and no registration is required. If the walk is canceled due to weather, the information will be posted to Sippican Lands Trust’s website and Facebook page.
