Sippican School Drama Club goes 'Under the Big Top'
With "Stories Under the Big Top," Sippican School's newly revived Drama Club is sharing old-fashioned parables with a dose of humor.
Enrichment teacher Chelsea Stafford said fellow teacher MJ Menezes started the Drama Club several years ago. After a year or two without it, Menezes wanted to resurrect the group and asked Stafford to help.
The two are co-directing the production, which will be performed Thursday, April 14 at 5 p.m.
Stafford said students were enthusiastic about joining.
"We had a lot of participation so we needed a play that had a lot of parts where everybody could shine in their way," she said.
The play is several stories in one, all parables that teach a moral. In one skit, a man uses "brains over brawn" to outwit a group of mischievous monkeys. In another scene, a fisherman with a perpetually discontented wife gets his wish for a happy life from a magic fish.
Stafford said the kids are very excited to perform, and all are welcome. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids with a $25 per family cap.
