Snow, ice budget nears limit in Rochester

Jan 28, 2014

Cross your fingers or rub a rabbit's foot, but it’s unlikely that the area has seen its last snowfall this winter.

For Rochester, that means money in the snow and ice fund will run out, said Town Administrator Rich LaCamera at the Selectmen's meeting on Monday.

“We will be requesting from the board to deficit spend for the snow and ice budget,” he said. “I don’t think we’re going to get through February without spending additional money.”

The town budgeted $68,000 for the fund as it did last year, and LaCamera said it's par for the course.

LaCamera said the town will need to use free cash or transfer funds from another department to cover the deficit, something that will be proposed at Annual Town Meeting.
