South Coast Bikeway Alliance annual summit
The South Coast Bikeway Alliance will commemorate progress on the regional South Coast Bikeway, which includes the Mattapoisett Rail Trail and the future Marion bike path.
The fourth annual bike summit entitled "Building the South Coast Bikeway" will occur on March 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fort Tabor Community Center at 1000 Rodney French Boulevard, New Bedford. A welcoming reception begins at 5 p.m. and presentations, beginning at 6 p.m., will review developments in bikeway design and planning from Fall River to Wareham. Presenters include Rep. Bill Strauss, representatives from the East Coast Greenway Alliance who will unveil the new nationally advertised bike-touring route through the region.
Keynote speaker Willie Weir, a columnist for Adventure Cyclist Magazine and the author of “Travels with Willie” and “Spokesongs.”

The South Coast Bikeway Alliance is a volunteer group made of representatives of eight bikeway towns and regional institutions who advocate completing this regional health, transportation and economic development facility.
