Stretches, stars, a dog’s party at Plumb Library
ROCHESTER — Plumb Library will host two yoga workshops, two space-painting workshops and a party for Amos the therapy dog in August.
On Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 4:30 p.m., Yogi Lisa will visit Plumb Library for the last class in her girl star-powered themed yoga class. The session will include active yoga and mindfulness instruction, and a make and take project. Participants should bring a yoga mat or towel and a water bottle to the session. Space is limited to 8 girls.
The next day, Yogi Lisa will host the final class in her space-themed yoga series for children ages 5 to 9 at 11 a.m. at Plumb Library. The class will include songs, games, and stories, and children will work on strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and cooperation. It is recommended that children bring a yoga mat or towel and a water bottle to the session.
Kelly Smith, of Kelly Smith Studios, will lead an instructional class, giving her pupils step-by-step instructions to create a space-themed painting. All materials will be provided, except an apron or old paint shirt. No painting experience is necessary, but registration is. The class is limited to 10 participants.
At 5 p.m. on Aug. 8 Kelly will also host the same class for ten students, ages 12 and up.
On Aug. 10 from 10:30 to noon fans of Amos the therapy dog can drop in to celebrate the dog and his owner. Amos is turning 10, and will be retiring from Therapy Dogs International. Amos and Holly have visited the library since January 2017, and have completed almost 70 visits for Plumb. Amos will be receiving a special certificate from Therapy Dogs International for this accomplishment.
The library requests that attendees bring a thank you note or drawing reflecting a happy memory of your time with Amos to add to our collection. Gifts are welcome - for both Amos and Holly. Cupcakes and lemonade will be served (while supplies last). Patrons who would like to attend should register.
