Student gun violence protest canceled ahead of storm
Mar 21, 2018
A walkout protest against gun violence in schools at Old Rochester Regional Junior High School and Old Rochester Regional High School has been canceled, student organizers said, after an(other) incoming storm and the school administration dampened hopes.
The protest was originally planned as part of "National School Walkout Day" which was held on March 14. However, a nor'easter on that date meant a snow day for Old Rochester students.
Student organizer Madeline Scheub also noted that the protest was also canceled because the school administration would not allow students to walk out of the building until 10:17 a.m., when the protest was meant to run from 10-10:17 a.m. in honor of the 17 victims of the Parkland school shooting.
