Teenage author to hold book signing Nov. 5

Nov 3, 2014

Young adult author Jackie Leduc walks the talk. Rather, she writes it. Her first novel, “The Demonic Eyes” is now in print, with another on the way. Hear about her journey to published author at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Books will be available for purchase that evening and a demon eyes cake will be served.

Jackie Leduc, a freshman at Bishop Stang High School, is a 15-year-old author who wrote her first manuscript when she was 12. Inspired by books, she started reaching for her writing career at just six years old. After penning notebooks full of stories, she finally discovered the concept that is part of “The Demonic Eyes.”

Now, aside from writing, Jackie spends her time playing instruments, volunteering at the local cat shelter, blogging, painting, attending school and hosting a teen writer's group. She meets with adult published writers such as Wareham’s Scott Blagden, and has attended the Cape Cod Writer's Conference.

“The Demonic Eyes” is a window into the pain that the human soul can endure and over which it can triumph.

Damian Winters's life is miserable. Haunted by the death of his mother when he was seven, ignored and neglected by his abusive alcoholic father, and bullied and jeered at school, Damian escapes from his troubles and loneliness by walking and wandering the streets at night, haunted by his inner demons. Strongly believing in his unworthiness, the teenage boy is unaware of the gift he was born with.

But things are changing in his neighborhood beginning with the strange family moving into the haunted house next door, the series of gruesome murders involving satanic worship happening in the woods, and maybe even Damian himself.

Meet Leduc and hear more about her book on Nov. 5.
