Thursday, Oct. 22
Learn about the history of Cape Cod Shipbuilding Company

The Sippican Historical Society will be hosting a lecture via Zoom on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. by Wendy Goodwin, who will take guests through the 121 year history Cape Cod Shipbuilding Company and its 121 year history with photos and stories. SHS members will receive the Zoom link on the morning of the presentation. Friday, Oct. 23 and 24
Outdoor book sale at the Elizabeth Taber Library

The Elizabeth Taber Library will hold an outdoor book sale on Oct. 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fill a small bag for $5 or a large bag for $10. Hand-blown glass lobster claw ornaments will also be available for $30. One party per table at a time. Masks are required. Saturday, Oct. 24
Marion Boy Scouts Trunk or treat event

The Marion Cub Scout Troop #32 is hosting a Halloween Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center from 1 to 4 p.m. The Sippican Lands Trust and Marion Police Department will have Halloween tables to visit starting at 1 p.m. Costumes are welcome and encouraged.

Mattapoisett Lions Club Halloween Family Fun Festival

  • The Mattapoisett Lions Club will be hosing a Mini Fall Family Fun Festival drive-by on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Old Hammondtown School driveway from noon to 3 p.m. Each child will receive a small pumpkin & goody bag (while supplies last.) Everyone must stay in their cars and wear a mask. Participants will roll down their window to receive the goody bag and pumpkin.

 

Sunday, Oct. 25
Girls Scouts winter coat drive

Girl Scouts Troops 67041 and 66129 will be holding a winter coat drive on Oct. 25 at the Elizabeth Taber Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The troop is accepting new gloves, hats, mittens, socks and scarves, as well as new or used winter coats, snow pants, boots, pajamas and warm clothing. Tri-County Symphonic Band’s “Fall Panoply”

The Tri-County Symphonic Band will be holding a virutal concert on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m., entitled a “Fall Virtual Panoply.” It will feature various pieces from past performances. For more information, visit tricountysymphonicband.org.

Tuesday, Oct. 27
Grab n’ Go lunch at the Marion Council on Aging

The town’s Council on Aging and Coastline Elderly Services are sponsoring a series of drive-through Grab’ n Go lunches provided by On the Go. The lunches are limited to 50 people and advance registration is required by calling Coastline by 11 a.m. the day before at 508-742–9196. A $2 donation is suggested.

Local outdoor exploration lecture with the Mattapoisett Land Trust

The Mattapoisett Free Public Library will host a virtual presentation with the Education Committee of the Mattapoisett Land Trust on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. on the properties and trails residents can find in their own community. Registration is required to receive the Zoom meeting information. Spooky Stargazing at the Bogs

The Buzzards Bay Coalition will be taking guests on a journey from The Bogs in Mattapoisett through the solar system with spooky stargazing on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. Guests can use the coalition’s Celestron 8-inch SCT telescope with attached camera and monitor, making this a safe and socially distanced exploration. Registration is free but is required as space is limited.
