When cats go missing in Mattapoisett, it’s hard to match up owner and pet. To alleviate the problem of missing kitties, Town Administrator Mike Gagne is proposing that the town keep cat info on file.

“I think it would be a good service,” said Gagne.

Cat owners would fill out information about their pets, and the town would index it in case the animal goes missing.

Gagne said it would be voluntary and no fee would be required. Additionally, the town could input the information onto the GIS system, allowing animal control staff to access the cat profiles when driving through town.
