Town House Building Committee works with citizen petitioners
The Town House Building Committee is proposing the creation of a subcommittee to evaluate the feasibility of building a new Town House at the VFW property.
Citizens petitioned the creation of a separate committee to evaluate the option and the Town House Building Committee responded with a similar proposal, both requesting Town Meeting funds to hire a firm to do the study.
The Town House Building Committee is now working with the citizen petitioners, and committee member Bob Raymond said the proposal is to create a seven-person subcommittee: four petitioners and three THBC members.
“We’re all of the same mind,” Raymond said. He said the townspeople deserve a “deep dive” into the VFW plan and that the THBC would have autonomy to present its findings.
“We want to make sure this is a clean process,” said Raymond. “We may end up disagreeing with them but we want to make sure there are two clearly presented sides to this discussion.”
At Town Meeting, one of the two petitions (likely the citizen petition) is expected to be removed on the floor.
