Selectmen unanimously agreed to support a letter urging the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to support bike path development in the same way as roadways.

Bonne DeSousa, a member of the Friends of the Mattapoisett Bicycle, asked Selectmen to approve the letter, which specifically asks for more financial support in the areas of design, engineering and permitting.

“We need support form higher up,” said Town Administrator Mike Gagne, who said the town has long been supportive of the bike path.
