Tri-town libraries celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day
Plumb Library and the Mattapoisett Library both hosted events on Saturday afternoon to encourage families to come enjoy everything that libraries have to offer.
Take Your Child to the Library Day is a library grassroots program that began six years ago and is celebrated across the country.
"We had a pretty good crowd all day," Plumb Library Assistant Lisa Fuller said. "We're happy. We planned a lot of family events so people can see what we offer."
In Rochester, there were two SongShine Music and Movement sessions hosted by Lisa Kelly. Kelly danced and sang with the children as well as taught them about cajun music and instruments.
There was also a scavenger hunt, prize drawings and the Junior Friends of Plumb Library reading stories to the younger kids.
Mattapoisett Library hosted magician Stephen Brenner, who performed tricks with a variety of friends, like Charlotte the chinchilla, Fred the gecko (who apparently does not sell insurance), Princess the pig, Prickles the hedgehog, and Boris the tortoise.
The library also had a scavenger hunt, lego club and a story walk for kids to walk through the pages of a story book.
