An accident on Route 6 Thursday afternoon resulted in two heavily damaged vehicles and one person in the hospital.

Marion Police received several 911 calls around 12:05 p.m. reporting the car crash in front of Always in Bloom.

Police are unsure what exactly caused the crash, but it may have been due to inattention by the drivers, according to a statement from the department.

Resident Al Berry, who lives near the scene of the accident said, “I heard a big bang.”

He walked to Route 6 and watched as police, fire and EMS crews worked, taking one woman away on a stretcher. Tow trucks removed the car and pickup truck from the scene.

“That car really got hit,” said Berry.

The crash resulted in the closure of Route 6 from Spring Street to Ryder Lane for about 30 minutes as responders cleared the scene.
