Upcoming Marion Art Center student vacation workshops

MARION — The Marion Art Center is hosting six school vacation workshops from Monday, Feb. 17 through Thursday, Feb. 20 for kids ages 5 to 8. Each workshop will cost $35 for center members and $40 for nonmembers.
Attend a circus-themed camp on Monday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be tumbling trapeze artists, roaring lions and more.
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, students can make their own robot that draws, experiment with exploding paint colors and build glow-in-the dark sculptures. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, kids can get hands-on, and a little messy, through experiments with paint, clay paper collage, glue, string and more. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Also on Wednesday, Feb. 19 will be a workshop where kids can explore the art of self-portrait and learn the best artistic techniques for drawing faces, how to mix shades and tints of paints and add collage details with paper cut-outs. This event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The final workshop is on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kids will be able to unleash their imaginations to design and construct colorful cardboard insects and create stunning, one-of-a-kind dye-dipped beetles with vibrant colors and unique folding techniques.
