Upcoming Mattapoisett Free Public Library events
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Free Public Library will hold several events for patrons of all ages in August and September.
Plant Swap. There will be a plant swap from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the library.
Participants can pass on extra plants or find new ones. Plants should be healthy, pest-free, easy to carry and properly planted. If possible plants should also be clearly labeled. No registration is needed.
Sunset Cinema. Join the library for a free movie night on the lawn at 7 p.m. on Aug. 26.
The library will be showing “The Lego Movie," and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs and snacks. No registration is required, and the event is for all ages.
Picnic Book Club. The last Picnic Book Club of the summer will be Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. Gather on the library lawn for a literary conversation, pastries, and beverages. Participants can bring any book they are currently reading, and should come ready to discuss it. Registration is required.
Genealogy Roundtable. The library has a Genealogy Roundtable group that meets at the library the first Wednesday of the month from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m.
This month's meeting will take place on September 2nd. There is a different topic each month. Contact Robbin at the library for additional info.
Mindfulness and Meditation. Health coach and mindfulness teacher Lauren Masse will provide a break from business with a 30-minute mindfulness meditation session on Friday, September 11 at noon.
This class offers a welcoming space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the present moment. Join in person or virtually. Registration is optional.
Author Talk. Eric Jay Dolin's author talk has been rescheduled for Sept. 16 a 5:30 p.m. He will discuss his 2022 book, "Rebels at Sea: Privateering in the American Revolution," and hold a Q&A with attendees. This program is supported by a grant from the Mattapoisett Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council. Registration is optional.
