U.S. Senate Special Election June 25

A Special Election for the U.S. Senate will be held on Tuesday, June 25. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Gabriel Gomez (R-MA) are the two candidates vying for a seat.

In Mattapoisett, polling will be held at Old Hammondtown School, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

If a voter is not available to vote on election day and falls into one of the following three categories, absentee ballots are available in the Town Clerk’s office during regular hours: 1) absence from the town during normal polling hours; or 2) physical disability preventing a voter from going to the polling place; or 3) religious belief.

Registered residents may vote absentee until noon the day before the election. All questions should be directed to the Town Clerk’s office at 508-758-4103, ext. 2.

In Marion, polling takes place at the Benjamin Cushing Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots are available at the Marion Town House during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The office is closed for lunch, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Rochester voters may vote from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Council on Aging located at 67 Dexter Lane.

Absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s office, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
