Mattapoisett Police arrested a Vermont man on Sunday who was allegedly driving a stolen truck with goods stolen from property in Marion and Mattapoisett.

A statement released on Tuesday said Officers Brett Osetkowski and Nicolas Lorenco were dispatched to Wildwood Terrace on Sunday after a report of a suspicious vehicle going in and out of yards in the development. Osetkowski followed the truck, which had Vermont license plates, and stopped it on Mattapoisett Neck Road. The driver, Joseph Braley, 25, of 14 Center St. Barre, Vermont, admitted to the officer that he did not have a driver’s license.

Osetkowski and Lorenco discovered that the truck was registered as stolen from Barre.

The officers arrested Braley. A search of the truck also revealed property allegedly stolen from Mill Street in Marion and Jane Lane, Marion Road and Wildwood Terrace in Mattapoisett.

Braley was charged with receiving stolen property – a motor vehicle, two counts of receiving stolen property greater than $250, two counts of receiving stolen property less than $250, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to signal, marked lanes violation, speeding, no license in possession, providing a false name to police and possession of class E drug.

He was held on $10,000 cash bail. Braley was arraigned in Wareham District Court Monday.
