WITH VIDEO: Habitat makes way for Marion house
Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is getting closer to constructing its first-ever home in Marion.
On Wednesday, the group demolished an existing structure located at 185 Wareham Road to make way for the 1,100 square-foot Habitat house.
The demolition has been delayed for the past two weeks while Habitat gathered the final permits to tear down the structure.
Jack Beck, a Habitat representative, said the group is aiming to lay the foundation of the house within the next month.
“We want to start building in April or May, but that’s weather depending,” Beck said.
The Taunton-based G. Lopes Construction Company volunteered its services to demolish the structure.
Of the donation, Beck said, “That was a real deal for us.”
