Virtual concert at the art center
MARION — Join the Marion Art Center and Cape Cod Composer Michael Donovan for “Postcards from Buzzards Bay,” a musical celebration of all who live in the region.
On May 16 at 3 p.m., the art center will present a virtual encore of the Tri-County Symphonic Band performing the premiere of “Postcards from Buzzards Bay” and other works about the sea.
The concert will be accompanied by images — both vintage postcards and original art — of Buzzards Bay.
The program will include compositions by James Fulton, Francis McBeth, Robert Russell Bennett, Ralph Vaughn Williams, and John Philip Sousa. There will also be a new piece by Rochester resident and composer John Wallace.
After the concert, viewers can see recorded interviews with composers Donovan and Wallace and participate in a Zoom Q&A session.
The event will be broadcast on ORCTV and streamed on the art center’s YouTube channel.
To register for this event and receive the Zoom link, email info@marionartcenter.org with “Postcards Concert” in the subject line.
The concert is one of eight MAC events for South Coast Spring Arts, a 10-day arts festival in May comprising events and workshops from Fall River to Wareham.
