Warrant set for Town Meeting Nov. 15
The warrant for Town Meeting is a long one, with 32 articles ranging from the prohibition of aquaculture to solar panels to an easement for the bike path.
The meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Old Rochester Regional High School auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Two articles relate to the oft-discussed issue in town: aquaculture. Article 1 is a resident-pushed prohibition of aquaculture in Mattapoisett coastal waters, and Article 28 is a Selectmen-supported petition for state approval for a $175 increase in acreage fees.
Article 8 calls for approval to authorize and accept proposals for placing solar panels on town land. Should the panels be used, any excess revenue after energy costs will be placed in a “Solid Waste Disposal Cost Stabilization Fund.”
Article 22 asks for approval to execute an easement at Reservation Road and the YMCA for the bike path. Approval would put the path one step closer to completing Phase 1B, called the “Shining Tides Mile,” which connects Mattapoisett Neck Road to Depot Street.
