What to do at the Marion COA this month

MARION — From an ice cream social to a paint party, there’s a lot to do with the Marion Council on Aging this month.

On Aug. 5 at noon, you can join the council for pizza and a movie. The Council on Aging will be showing “Yesterday.” Lunch will be served at noon and registration is required. A $5 donation is requested, but not required.

On Aug. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m., patrons can have a paint party with Lydia. Participants will be able to bring home the artwork they make. The class is $20, and includes all necessary materials. Registration is required.

Signups for the Sept. 9 Cape Cod Canal Cruise begin on Aug. 12. The cruise is $13. Participants will be responsible for the cost of their lunch.

On Aug. 17 at noon, there will be a Heart to Home Luncheon. Heart to Home, a meal prep service, will visit the Council on Aging and put on a full course lunch. Registration is required.

On August 20 at 10:15 a.m., the council will host Dr. Ed Hoffer and Paula Evans to answer medical questions.

Also on Aug. 20 is a New England Raptor and Reptile presentation at 1 p.m. Learn the natural history, ecology, biology and management of native birds of prey, with live raptors and artifacts like skulls and feathers. This workshop is funded in part by a grant from the Marion Cultural Council.

On Aug. 31, the council will host an ice cream social at 1 p.m. Registration is required.
