MARION — From painting to bingo, there’s a lot to do with the Marion Council on Aging in September.

On Sept. 9, the council will host a reception for works done by Monday Morning Painters and Canal Side Painters. The reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m., and will include hors d'oeuvres. Canal Side Arsts move up and down the canal painting at different sites. The group’s primary focus is the use of watercolors. Monday Morning Painters describe themselves as a “plein air” painting group. The gallery will be on display through October.

On Sept. 13 at 1 p.m., the Council on Aging will host Jill Sanford for “Art for your Mind,” an art observation session designed to “broaden the minds of its participants.”

On Sept. 16 at 1 p.m., the council will host Mass Audubon for a presentation, “Birds of Your Backyard.” This presentation will focus on local birds in your backyard that you can expect a visit from at your winter feeder as well as the ones that will be departing until next spring.

On Sept. 20 at 1 p.m., the Tri-County Symphonic Band Brass Quartet will hold a concert. Light refreshments will be served following the performance.

On Sept. 21 at noon, the Council on Aging will host a cooking demonstration from Linda Medeiros. There is a $5 suggested donation for this program.

On Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. the council will host a game of bingo. Cost to play is $5 for a standard pack of play, $1 coverall and $1 for a 50/50 game.
