Winter weather hits the tri-town, no outages reported
While the year's first major winter storm pummeled a large portion of the country, the South Coast fared better than most and received approximately 8 to 10 inches of snow.
In the tri-town, Department of Public Works crews plowed through the afternoon and night keeping roads clear without any major issues.
According to electric company Eversource, some Massachusetts cities and towns experienced minor power outages, but none were reported in Marion, Mattapoisett or Rochester.
The National Weather Service in Taunton reported that the winter weather advisory expires 7 a.m. on Sunday.
At least 4 to 6 inches were expected with forecasts leaving room for as high as 8 to 10 inches of snow. Gusts of 35 miles per hour also moved in as the storm arrived late morning on Saturday.
The combination of wind and snow made for low visibility at times.
The snow tapered off after midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
