MARION — On July 14, work began on the Elizabeth Taber Statue site at Bicentennial Park. The site will include granite steppers, concrete paving, lighting, two wooden benches and a granite bench for the statue to sit on. There will be room on either side of the granite bench for others to sit.

Susannah Davis of Marion designed the plantings which will be added around the site. In addition, a plaque will thanks “Marion’s Greatest Benefactor.”

A dedication ceremony is planned for Aug. 22 (pandemic rules permitting), Taber’s birthday. The statue, which will be given to the Town, was financed by private donations.
