Today, the lighthouse beacon shine’s without the use of oil to power its light, and the Friends of the Ned’s Point Lighthouse are raising funds to restore the beacon to its original glory. Photo by: Tim Seeberger

Though businesses have come and gone through Mattapoisett, some places have stood the test of time.
The old stone bridge over Mattapoisett River still stands, but it’s now more populated with houses (and it’s actually paved!)
Dexter Mill may no longer be around, but remnants still show.
The Ropewalk can trace its beginnings back to the ‘80s, and Ned’s Point Lighthouse can traces its roots to the ‘30s (that is, the 1830s. 1838 specifically.)
Take a look back at the different well-known places in Mattapoisett and how they’ve transformed over the years.
