Yoga is a new twist for ORR class fund-raiser

May 9, 2022

MARION — Rather than attending a brunch or family breakfast, several mothers and teens supported the ORRHS Junior Class on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8,  during a calm but sweaty yoga class.

Led by Elke Pierre at her Marion Yoga Loft studio, the class boasted a full house and reflected the theme of motherhood. Pierre not only hosted, but taught, served as disc jockey and planned the yoga to support the class that her son, Markus Pierre, is a member of.

After being struck by covid through their freshmen and sophomore school years, the class of 2023 has been playing catch-up, trying to create as many events as possible to lower costs for their senior year.

Seeing the success of Mother’s Day yoga, class president Gabby Berg said that “more yoga is definitely in our future. Elke and I discussed glo-yoga and beach yoga, and with the success of today;s yoga class, we are excited to plan more dates that maybe different groups can come to.”
