The first annual Healing Little Hearts 5K and kid's fun run will be held on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 14, starting from Center School in Mattapoisett.

Healing Little Hearts helps fund pediatric cardiac research being done at Boston Children's Hospital and has raised more than $600,000 for research.

The organization is looking for sponsors to help support the hospital's research team. Proceeds from the race will go directly to the hospital, and $1 for every 5K registration will be donated to the Mattapoisett PTA.

Companies who participate will be featured on the organization's website and event T-shirts.
