Two vie for Mattapoisett Town Clerk in May election
Election papers have all been submitted, and only one race is contested for Mattapoisett's annual Town Election on May 20.
Catherine Heuberger of 106 Acushnet Road and Erika Osetkowski of 31 Pearl Street are both running for town clerk as long-time Town Clerk Barbara Sullivan retires this summer. Heuberger and Osetkowski got an early start on campaigns signs, which already grace many yards in town.
On May 20, current Selectmen Chair Tyler Macallister will ask voters for another three years on the board. Assessor Ray Andrew and Mattapoisett School Committee member James Higgins are also running again on their respective boards.
Harry Hunt III is looking to fill a one-year vacancy on the town's School Committee.
Peter LeBrun is running for his first term on the Old Rochester Regional District School Committee.
Cynthia Johnson is also looking for a place on the committee to fill a two-year vacancy.
For the Mattapoisett Library trustees, incumbent Ruth Jolliffe and newcomer Virgina Beams look to fill two positions.
Moderator John Eklund, Water and Sewer Commissioner Daniel Chase, Board of Health member Carmelo Nicolosi, Planning Board member Thomas Tucker and Community Preservation Committee members Jodi Bauer and John DeCosta are all incumbents running unopposed in the election.
No one put their name in the hat for two positions on the Mattapoisett Housing Authority, one a full five-year term and the other a one-year vacancy.
Residents may register to vote at the Town Clerk's office located at Town Hall. The last day to register to vote for the election and Town Meeting is April 22.
The Town Clerk's office will be open until 8 p.m on that day.
Voting takes place at Old Hammondtown School.
