The Rochester Country Fair is calling all bakers to the annual Pie Bake Off. This year’s pie contest will be held on Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. under the big tent.

Participants will be judged in two categories: single or double crust. The judging will be done by a professional pastry chef, a culinary chef and hometown pie guru. The pies will be judged on presentation, taste, texture of the filling and the flakiness of their crust.

Winners in each categories will receive ribbons indicating their accomplishments of first, second and third place. One honorable mention in each category will also be given out.

To enter the pie contest, entries must fill out an application located in the program book or visit www.rochesterma.com to print one out.

Mail applications to Duarte Raposo, 3 Bernards Way, Rochester, MA 02770 by Wednesday, Aug. 13. All recipes must include the title of pie, recipe, method of preparation and any allergy items used.
