Selectmen to create group to evaluate town facilities
Now that the town has set up funds to deal with its financial liabilities, Mattapoisett Selectmen want to tackle the state of the town’s facilities by creating a study group.
“This is the last large liability that we can foresee coming to the town,” said Selectman Paul Silva.
A group of five people would evaluate each town building as well as identifying land and buildings already owned by the town that could be used otherwise. The study group would not be responsible for prioritizing the needs, said Selectmen.
Selectman Jordan Collyer said a member of the Finance Committee, Capital Planning Committee, a citizen who works in construction, a school committee member and one member at large might be the best option for the makeup of the group.
Silva said they would speak with fellow Selectman Tyler Macallister, who was not present, before moving forward with the creation of the group.
