The performance scheduled for Sunday, December 20th detailed below has been cancelled due to illness. The library wishes everyone a happy holiday and Merry Christmas! See you all in the New Year!

The Mattapoisett Library Trust will present the Dylan Thomas classic "A Child's Christmas in Wales" on Sunday, December 20th at 2 pm, as part of The Purrington Series. The 45-minute performance stars actor Colin Lane and accompanist Rebecca Zaretsky.

Colin Lane, originally from Ireland, brings an affection for the poem to the dramatic reading. "This is a story I love coming back to," he says. "It never loses its humor, and it embodies the spirit of children at Christmas." He is accompanied on accordion by Rebecca Zaretsky, whose soprano voice offers up the old carols of the day.

Colin Lane has performed on Broadway, Off Broadway and in most of the major regional theaters from Boston to LA, and Minneapolis to Florida. He has won a Dramalogue award for this role as Frank Sweeney in Molly Sweeney at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

Mr. Lane has performed "A Child's Christmas in Wales" over the past 25 years from Boston to Off-Broadway. He considers this concert production with singer Rebecca Zaretsky a presentation of the work's essence.
