Rochester resident plays lead in 'Yankee Tavern'
Rochester resident Dan Groves takes on the lead role in Theatre One Productions "Yankee Tavern," described as a “topsy-turvy thriller."
Located in at Alley Theatre, 133 Center St.,Middleboro, the play will be performed March 10 to 12 and March 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and March 20 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $18 for seniors and students. On opening night, March 10, tickets are $18. Doors open 30 minutes before the performance.
The plays centers on The Tavern, the last business open in an abandoned hotel near Ground Zero in New York City. Adam, played by Groves, is a student whose thesis is that conspiracy theories are more dangerous than the events that trigger them. He has inherited The Tavern from his father. Other characters include Janet, Adam's fiancée, who is looking forward to Adam getting out from under this failing business; Ray, who argues about government conspiracy theories; and a stranger named Palmer who walks in and orders a beer for himself and his invisible buddy, setting off a gripping thriller.
Theatre goers are encouraged to bring food donations for Middleboro's Council on Aging food pantry.
